Jinan: Opportunities for UK Businesses

Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province, and its political and cultural centre. Jinan’s economy is heavily state-influenced and focused on heavy industry, and its economic development lags behind that of the coastal cities of Qingdao and Yantai.

However, its growing prosperity and Its efforts to become a more dynamic, high-tech manufacturing centre, coupled with a rich talent pool and an excellent transportation network, make it an attractive location for UK businesses.

This video is one of a 20 part series on China’s regional cities. Each video shows the size and scale of the city, its overall attractiveness as a place to live and work, and introduces potential business opportunities.

UK business interest in China has been focused on a few large established cities on or near the coast. However, these markets are maturing, competition is intensifying and costs are increasing. As a consequence companies are considering alternative locations for business expansion and development. Regional cities are fast becoming the target for local and foreign investment. The rapid rate of urbanisation, expansion and economic growth of these cities offers considerable opportunities across a wide range of industrial sectors and business activities.
