Envirocart – In-Water Hull Cleaning System, 100% Biofouling Capture.

The Envirocart is capable of removing, capturing and containing marine biofouling from biocidal and biocide-free underwater coatings without damage to the hull or hull coating system. The Envirocart incorporates shrouded cleaning disks that contour to flat, curved or convex hull surfaces. When fitted with patented non-contact system we have the ability to clean primary and early secondary stage fouling from the hull surface without damaging the Anti Fouling Coat. The contactless system can be lowered into contact with the hull for heavier second stage macro bio fouling. A range of complimentary hand tools have been developed for cleaning and capture of biofouling material from niche areas (anodes, sea suction grates, propellers etc.) and other irregularly shaped underwater appendages and surfaces ensuring a total biofouling clean. The system removes the biofouling in a contained system, with the waste pumped to the surface and processed through a multi-stage, high-speed filtration system that separates and contains all material removing material down to as low as 5 micron. Filtrate is then treated with UV radiation for complete disinfection prior to discharge safely back into the ocean.

The Envirocart is the first completely contained, non-abrasive in water hull cleaning system, which is totally portable allowing the in-water hull cleaning to be undertaken in-situ, and the whole system (weighing less than 2500kg) can be packed into a standard 20ft shipping container for transport or storage. Envirocart is also the only known system that complies with the Australian Government’s new Anti-fouling and In-water Cleaning Guidelines June 2013.

DoF WA conducted multiple successful trials on the system and these were completed in 2012. Due to DoF’s knowledge of the product, we conducted a successful bio security clean on a 120m barge. This vessel was allowed back into service within Australian waters post clean and inspection.

Our objective is to deliver the Envirocart to market to allow a safe, cost effective, environmentally friendly in-water hull cleaning solution to mitigate marine bio-security threats, reduce the shipping industry carbon footprint, and to provide significant operational cost savings for commercial and Government vessels.
